Wassailing
Wassailing is an ancient, likely medieval, custom dedicated to blessing apple orchards to ensure a great harvest. By offering toast, song, and strong apple juice, participants encourage the health of the trees while driving away negative spirits. These gatherings are defined by choral tributes and hearty cries of “Wassail,” a toast to good health.
Beyond the ritual, an apple wassail offers a wonderful opportunity to gather by the fire during the winter months and reconnect with nature.
Contributing his extensive talents as a songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist, Rufus Rees-Coshan played a key role in composing the original music for the Chettle wassail.
